Company Profile A wholly owned subsidiary of Keppel Corporation Limited, Keppel Energy Pte Ltd has a track record of developing, owning and operating power plants in Singapore, Ecuador, Brazil, China, the Philippines and Nicaragua. Keppel Energy aims to offer a portfolio of utility services, particularly in power generation, which meets the needs of our customers, responds to changing market conditions and ultimately creates value for our shareholders. Singapore Business Our subsidiary, Keppel Merlimau Cogen Pte Ltd has a license to generate 1,400 MW in Singapore and is presently in the final stages of commissioning a 500 MW gas fired combined cycle power plant on Jurong Island. When completed, the Keppel Merlimau Cogen Project will also be able to provide utilities like steam, firefighting water, cooling water and pipe corridor services (Pipenet) to existing and potential consumers on Jurong Island. Our gas business is managed by our wholly owned subsidiary Keppel Gas Pte Ltd. It is responsible for the import, retail and shipping of natural gas in Singapore's deregulating gas market. Keppel Energy's other local subsidiary, Keppel Electric Pte Ltd, is currently the only active independent licensee in Singapore that retail electricity to contestable industrial and commercial consumers. With the liberalisation of the Singapore energy market, Keppel Energy is also actively looking for new business opportunities in the domestic energy marketplace including developing the gas business and possible participation in the privatisation of Temasek owned power generators. Overseas Business Overseas, our power generation projects include the power barges in Ecuador and a diesel power plant in Nicaragua. Our overseas experience also include previously owning and operating a coal-fired power plant in the People's Republic of China as well as operating power barges in the Philippines and recently in Brazil.
