Keppel Energy's vision is to develop a strong, well balanced and regionally focused power business, by building on positions and experiences that it has already established in Singapore, The Philippines, China, Nicaragua and Brazil.
There is a window of opportunity for value-adding investments in the utility sector, particularly in Asia. One primary growth driver is the market deregulation and privatization taking place globally. Energy markets that were once the exclusive domain of state-owned utilities are opening to direct private sector participation. In several countries natural gas deregulation has accompanied the deregulation of power generation. Keppel Energy's experience in both regulated and deregulating markets provides it with the knowledge to understand and to operate effectively across energy markets and regulatory regimes.
Keppel Energy is particularly interested in projects in Asia that can demonstrate consistent earnings and have competitive positioning in their respective markets. Keppel Energy will form joint ventures with strategic partners who can add value to its growth plans through their participation.
